With Ferry Corsten repeatedly placing in the top 10 DJs in the world, as voted by the fans in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs, he is truly a veteran DJ/Producer in the Electronic Dance Music world. Ferry has been producing hit track after track for over 20 years. His numerous awards and gold records are evidence of his great success and continued motivation to bring his fans new music.
Since Corsten’s release of his first “Once Upon A Night” Album, Ferry has continued to give the fans something new to look forward to. He started his “Once Upon A Night” Tour in March of this year, and it was such a great success that Ferry decided to start working on his second album right away. “Once Upon A Night, Vol.2” is again being supported with a massive tour and it’s no wonder that this album will be as much of a success as the previous one.
The double-disc CD starts off with Dimension’s original track “Once A Day”. All of Dimension’s tracks seem to be unique from one another. Ferry has always supported this up and coming artist and the name of this track, “Once A Day” seems to fit with the album perfectly.
The next song on this Album is Yuri Kane’s track “Daylight”. This tune has beautiful vocals by Melissa Loretta and is another release on Flashover Recordings. It mixes perfectly into the first song and was a great follow up track to Yuri’s track “Right Back”.
Ferry continues mixing tracks like Amurai’s “Angel Cry” and Low End Theory’s “Changing Souls” using the extended mix, which really start to bring some more energy to the album. Then he hits you with one of his Original Mixes, Ferry Corsten pres. Pulse – Festival. Like the name states, you really feel joyous when listening to this track like you are at a festival. It brings a very melodic and happy sound to the middle of the first disc.
Corsten’s mix then presents San featuring Polished’s “Lose It All” with the Ibiza Sunrise Mix, BT featuring Rob Dickinson’s “Always” using the Chicane Mix, and Mistigris’ “Sunshine”. As the CD continues the energy of the CD picks up as well. You really feel as though you are dancing in a club. Ferry starts to end out the mix with Peter Santos’ “Mystic”, Audien’s “Mind Over Matter”, Danjoy & Andrew Shartner’s “It Is Written” featuring Andrew Shartner’s mix, and M.O.O.N. Pro’s “To The Moon”.
To end out the first disc of this compilation, Ferry decides to slow it down at the end with a very beautiful track by Niko Pavlidis called “Long Roads”. This song is a perfect ending to this fabulous first CD of “Once Upon A Night, Vol.2”.
For the second installment of “Once Upon A Night, Vol.2”, Ferry Corsten kicks it off with Amurai featuring Rough Duchess’ “Infinity”. The second track on this compilation by Amuri, this is a very powerful opener to the second disc. The breakdown has a unique sound and it is a great way to kick off this mix.
Ferry continues his journey of music with Thomas Datt pres. D.A.T.T.’s “Eden’s Light” and then the progressive mix of DJ Ange’s “Halicarnassus”. Both of these trance tracks are very uplifting and beautiful additions to this album.
Corsten continues to energize the dancefloor with the next two tracks on his compilation. Mike Saint-Jules’ ”Luna” is a really energetic tune and Rafaël Frost’s “We Were” will keep you dancing through the middle of the mix.
The next few songs mixed on this glorious CD are Pulser pres. Luminal’s “Sunstorm”, Daniel Wanrooy’s “Endless Moments”, “Tempo Giusto & Ima’gin’s “The Whip” and Klauss Goulart’s “Maximum”. These tracks round out the center of this album and even bring some housey sounds to it.
One of the most attention grabbing tracks on this mix is Urry Fefelove & Abramasi’s “Stay On The Way”. This song has some acid lines that will make you want to get up off your chair and start going wild. The breakdown definitely has that big room sound.
The next couple of productions Corsten include in his album are ReOrder’s “Angels” and Breakfast’s “The Horizon” with the Juventa Remix. Ferry really brought us on a journey on this CD. He starts to slow it back down a bit with these two songs, but still has chosen two very beautiful trance tracks to almost complete the mix.
Ferry ends out “Once Upon A Night, Vol.2” with one of the most epic tracks of the album, Cataracta’s “Prime Meridian”. Such a spectacular end to and overall well rounded and great 2 disc set. This is definitely an album worth purchasing and one that will be listened to over and over again.
