On June 23, 2011, USTM had the pleasure of attending the Pioneer DJ Art Mix Gallery press event. The collaborative event included a number of global DJ’s and urban artists who came together to design and create works of art utilizing a Pioneer CDJ-2000 as a blank canvas. The event featured BT, Steve Aoki, Crystal Method, Bob Haro, George Thompson, Jesse Graves, Joe Hahn, Man One, Ritzy Periwinkle, ROSTARR, Tommy Lee & DJ Aero and lastly Victor “Marka27″ Quiñonez.
Each one-of-a-kind piece delivered a creative element that represented the artist’s true vision and musical inspirations. As a group the show delivered contemporary designs with a splash of vibrant colors and an integration of various mix media such as parts of musical instruments, acrylic, graffiti, gold paint, and Lego. If you are planning to attend the show expect to see a mixture of works by visionary artists such as Crystal Method and Grammy nominated artist BT, that simply came together to bring musical awareness, inspiration and passion to our communities.
Not only did we get to view the creatively designed CDJ-2000’s, Pioneer also had a few key pieces of equipment on display for the media to view and play with. Among those were the DDJ-SI and DDJ-TI controllers for use with Serato and Tracktor, respectively, and their HDJ series headphones. Pioneer also provided us with a DJ to pump out the tunes as we browsed around the gallery, and Bulldog Gin provided refreshments.
The Pioneer DJ Art Mix Tour event will be displayed in various cities near you, so take part of the positive awareness. Keep in mind that all the CDJ-2000 canvases will be auctioned off in August 2011 to benefit the VH1 Save the Music foundation.
